Light-Hearted Cyrano I have loved the play "Cyrano de Bergerac" so that is why I had to have this movie on DVD. I feel that this version of Cyrano de Bergerac lacks the real passion, emotion, and energy of the play. There are some parts from the play that are easy to recognize, the balcony scene, and the scene where "Cyrano" comes up with many comments about his nose. However the firefighter aspect I am not sure works as opposed to the soldiers in the play.
I am a Steve Martin fan and did enjoy his performance in this movie, but as a lover of Cyrano, I have to lesson the number of stars because the passion of Cyrano is not for the light-hearted.
