Thin as Gin Steve Martin has interspersed his more interesting, personals films with dreck such as this, keeping the bills paid, his profile known, and so on. The plot is manufactured, the characters all stereotypes, and the script as transparent as glass.
Some of the performances don't royally suck. Phil Hartman, in particular, fleshes out his part of as the antagonist pretty well, hinting at more than script can provide. Beyond that, there's not much to get out of this. I suppose those familiar with the television series might be able to appreciate what changed and what didn't, but that's only an intellectual exercise.
