dark and sparse I've always been a fan of Walken, so I wouldn't be surprised to have my rating considered inflated. Catching this feature on tv probably changes the perspective a little as well.
The setting and cinematography was dark and almost intimate feeling. While the movie is set in New York, you don't get the overwhelming feel of the size or population of New York. The dark and sparse mood fits the story and Walken well. Walken plays a crime boss fresh off of serving time, who want's to run every game in New York. Only this time, he wants to renew the honorable criminal work, take care of the scumbags, and attempt to leave a philanthropic legacy. Who really runs New York? Other notable cast members include David Caruso, Laurence Fishburne, Wesley Snipes, and Steve Buscemi.
