a lesson in color

This film is breath taking. The strong story and even stronger performances from a great cast are enough to place this film in the top 10 of 2002. Then, with great care, Todd Haynes wraps it all up in a visual presentation that will leave you stunned. Color is his main tool, and the attention to it's detail in the set, wardrobe, and film tinting is incredible. It's interesting to note the original was presented in black and white.

There's not much else to say except watch this movie. A larger screen might be helpful as well.
