I'm a vampire killing cowboy. ma'am.

In the beginning you wonder if this is somehow related to "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen". Each movie has the same level of plot depth, similar aggregation of myth, and big budget feel.

Hugh Jackman plays a sort of dark warrior who's part cowboy and part medieval ranger. His past elludes him, and he's an undesiring henchman of the Church. Kate Beckinsale is the strong gypsey, ready to fight alongside him. Together they battle some common foes, mostly in the form of vampires and werewolves in Transylvania.

The interpretations of the evil creatures are done pretty well, and the darkness of the shooting and story are enjoyable. In the end though, the big budget action template tightens it's grip and brings the movie down.

an aside: What's up with that bustier like shirt that Beckinsale wears the entire film? That can't be comfortable, and it wasn't flattering either.
